Holt requests his release, 49ers now want Butler?
Around the Horns is reporting that 7 time Pro Bowler Tory Holt has asked the Rams to release him. The STLToday has followed up with a more in depth article here.
St Louis had been actively shopping Holt around the NFL but so far have had no takers, although it was rumoured that the Giants were interested. Holt has come to the conclusion that he is no longer part of the plans in the new offense and wants to finish his playing days elsewhere. STLToday reports that Holt has been unavailable for comment while Billy D said, “Our only comment is no comment.”
Last season Holt hinted that he would relish the chance to play in Carolina where is brother, Terrence, is currently on the roster.
Releasing Holt would be a real kick in the teeth for the franchise who turned down a trade offer from the Titans of a first-round pick last year when Tennessee were trying to solidify their receiving corps.
It’s a sad day that our relationship with Big Game has come to this, but business is business. I thought letting Holt go (via trade) was the right thing to do and although it is painful to just flat out release him, it is time for the franchise to move on… Orlando Pace - WATCH THIS SPACE!
RotoTimes says that the Whiners have started to show an interest in Rams target, James Butler.
St Louis fans have almost taken it for granted that Butler will end up wearing the Horns in 2009, but will San Fran have something to say about it!?
