Someone in the Cleveland Browns organisation jumped the gun a little in posting a Jeremy Maclin profile to their official website. As MJD of ShutDownCorner says, it’s probably just a Maclin fan running through the motions in a ‘test’, but still, lets speculate!
With the prospect of playing for the Detroit Lions looming large over Matthew Stafford, he is considering his options. In fact Stafford said, “My parents have made an intriguing counter offer of a futon in their basement, pizza a couple times a week, and the ability to borrow dad’s car on the weekends.”
After one of the worst Combine showings in recent memory Offensive Lineman Andre Smith has a lot to prove on his March 11 Pro Day. Steve Wyche of NFL.com went to see Smith training and has to say, he looked focused. The article notes, “At least one St. Louis assistant coach has scheduled a private meeting with Smith at his pro day next week at the University of Alabama.”
In a visit to San Diego, Saints QB Drew Brees hinted that he’d love to see LaDanian Tomlinson play along side him in New Orleans. LT and the Chargers are having a few difficulties in agreeing terms on a new contract so Brees’ recruitment drive comes at an interesting time.
With the Rams looking for a backup QB I was half hoping that by re-signing Kurt Warner the Cards would let go of Matt Leinart. According to Leinart though, he’s not looking to be traded. I think too many people have been hard on Leinart too soon and that once he takes the reins he’ll be a solid starter. Several players such as Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Philip Rivers all have gone through a similar process on route to being above-average players.
