Holt released… as expected, but what’s the plan!?
The day we all new was coming finally arrived…
Tory Holt was released by the St Louis Rams over the weekend. The article by Mike Sando notes that the Rams have let 8 players go recently, 7 of which we offensive players, including former starters Orlando Pace, Drew Bennett, Anthony Becht, Brett Rhomberg and of course, Holt himself. Corey Chavous is the most notable defensive player cut so far.
VanRam notes that Holt is not garnering the kind of interest he might have hoped for. Several rumoured destinations have ruled themselves out - the Jets, Titans, Giants and Vikings. The 49ers are also ‘wary’ of Holt’s knees…
The Bleacher Report, which has recently been way off on it’s Rams musings, thinks that following the loss of Holt, making the St Louis wide-receiver corps one of the worst in the NFL, they will make Michael Crabtree a Ram in late April. Another Bleacher report article discusses the Rams off-season moves here calling it a “The Hopeful Resurrection”. Yet another Bleacher Report article is intent on deciding the Rams 2009 fates before the season has begun, describing the franchise as “headed in right direction, but a dog’s age away from contention”. The article adds, “the Rams are in need of a serious influx of talent” and “As good as he is, Spagnuolo can’t draw blood from a stone.”
I look forward to the Front Office proving these guys wrong!
